Afraid of the dentist?

In day-to-day dental care, it is normal to encounter patients who have a phobia or fear of being treated by a dentist. The reality is that what these patients fear and prefer to avoid is pain. It is important to understand that going to the dentist is not synonymous with pain, it is rather a practice that in the short, long and medium term helps to achieve proper oral health.

Regular visits to the dentist mostly prevent oral problems. The accumulation of tartar and other bacteria damage the gums, bone and teeth, which the patient notices due to the pain they generate in a more advanced stage. Prevention is the best option, attending regular dental check-ups and cleanings.

Dental care is complex, demanding and specialized. There are surgical treatments and more aggressive and invasive procedures, which require more specific care and recovery. These treatments are mostly indicated for conditions involving infections or pathologies derived from neglect and poor oral health.

Although the sound produced by the dental pieces can cause irritation, fear and anxiety, it is important to know that in most cases the use of this tool is always under anesthesia, topically first, followed by local anesthesia. In this way avoiding pain, discomfort or sensitivity.

The dentist should not be feared. The solution lies in the prevention of oral diseases through tooth brushing and continuous visits to the dentist.
